Thigh Lift (Thighplasty)
Remove loose skin and excess fat from the inner thighs for a smoother, firmer leg.
A thigh lift removes the loose, sagging skin of the inner thigh that rubs, chafes, and shows in shorts or a swimsuit - usually after major weight loss, pregnancy, or simply with age. Dr. Ganz removes the excess skin and fat and tightens the remaining tissue so the thigh is smoother and firmer.
For laxity concentrated in the upper inner thigh, the incision is placed in the groin crease, where underwear or a swimsuit covers it. When loose skin extends down the leg, a longer incision along the inner thigh is needed to remove it; Dr. Ganz will show you exactly where it would sit and whether liposuction alone could get you most of the way there.
Common questions
Am I a candidate for a thigh lift?
You are likely a candidate if loose inner-thigh skin bothers you - skin that rubs, chafes, or hangs - and your weight has been stable for a while. If the issue is mostly fat and the skin still has good elasticity, liposuction alone may do the job without a lift. Not smoking, or stopping well before surgery, matters here because the incision needs good blood flow to heal. Dr. Ganz will examine your thighs and tell you plainly which approach fits.
Where is the incision, and will the scar show?
When the loose skin sits high on the inner thigh, the incision is placed in the crease where the thigh meets the groin, so underwear or a swimsuit covers it. When loose skin runs farther down the leg, removing it takes a longer incision along the inner thigh; that scar is hidden when your legs are together but can show in shorts. Either way the scar is permanent and fades over the first year. Dr. Ganz will show you exactly where it would sit at consultation so there are no surprises.
What is the recovery like?
You will walk the same day, and gentle walking is encouraged. For the first couple of weeks you avoid wide-legged movements, deep squats, and anything that pulls on the groin incision, and you wear a compression garment. Most patients are back to desk work in about two weeks and resume full exercise after several weeks. Swelling in the thighs takes months to settle completely, so the final shape arrives gradually.
Can liposuction be combined with a thigh lift?
Yes, and it often is. Liposuction thins the thigh while the lift removes the loose skin, so the leg ends up both slimmer and smoother. For mild laxity, liposuction with Renuvion skin tightening can sometimes replace a lift altogether. Which combination makes sense for you is decided at the exam, not from a menu.
What are the risks?
The inner thigh is a moving, moist area, so slow healing of part of the incision is the risk Dr. Ganz plans around most carefully. Others are fluid collection, a scar that widens or drifts downward, temporary numbness, and some asymmetry. All of them are reviewed with you before anything is decided, and your aftercare is built to keep them as unlikely as possible.
How long do the results last?
Removing the excess skin is lasting. The thighs still age, and a significant weight change can loosen the skin again, so a stable weight protects the result. Most patients keep a smoother, firmer thigh for many years.
What does a thigh lift cost in Miami?
Pricing is individualized - it depends on the type of lift, whether liposuction is added, and the facility and anesthesia involved - and your exact quote comes at consultation. You are paying for a fellowship-trained surgeon, an operating facility, anesthesia, and the care around a real operation.
Not Sure Where to Start?
Let's talk about what makes sense for you.
You don't need to know the name of the procedure you need. Tell Dr. Ganz what bothers you, what you would like to change, and what matters most to you. He'll give you an honest opinion about your options and what is realistically achievable.
